Warriors for Peace Theatre

Founded by Iraq War Veteran Christopher Loverro, Warriors For Peace theatre is a collaboration of US military veterans and civilians who believe in the healing effects of art.  Our company is designed to provide catharsis for those who have served by way of the theatre arts and the brilliance of Shakespeare.  In addition to helping our veterans heal and re-integrate back into civilian life, our larger mission is to have American warriors work with veterans from other nations in order to break down negative stereotypes and promote peace and healing through the arts.  Our calendar year consists of free Shakespeare workshops for veterans, showcases, community outreach projects, and theatrical productions.

We are strong supporters of our military and our veterans.  We have no political agenda except to work towards healing and understanding between nations we have been at war with or currently have hostile relations with.  We believe the arts are a perfect way to bring people together and they remind us of our commonality and the humanity we all share.

We hope to remind governments and their citizens to see beyond the social construct of the nation-state and remind them that we are all “global citizens”.  If soldiers who have fought each other can come together in peace then why can’t the rest of us?

We choose to use Shakespeare because he is the most widely performed playwright in the world and understands war and human nature.  Our goal is to show the world that by veterans coming together to perform art we are all brothers and sisters.  There is no “other”, there is only "us”!
